What is Lugol’s Iodine Solution?

Lugol’s Iodine Solution is a mixture of iodine (I) and potassium iodide (KI) dissolved in distilled water. The formula was first developed in 1829 by the French physician Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol, who created a solution combining iodine and potassium iodide to improve iodine’s solubility in water.

Health Leads Lugol’s Iodine Solution follows the traditional formulation using a 1:2 ratio of iodine to potassium iodide.

What does Lugol’s Iodine do?

Iodine is an essential trace mineral that contributes to:

• normal production of thyroid hormones

• normal thyroid function

• normal cognitive function

• normal energy-yielding metabolism

• normal functioning of the nervous system

• maintenance of normal skin

Iodine occurs naturally in foods such as seaweed, fish, dairy products and eggs.

Suggested Adult Use

This product must be diluted before use.

Dilute 1 drop of Lugol’s solution in 60 drops (3ml) of water, then take 2 drops of the diluted solution once daily.

This provides approximately 210µg iodine (140% NRV).

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Not intended for continuous daily use.

This product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Do not use if you are allergic to iodine. Discontinue use if any adverse reaction occurs.
