What is Folate?
Folate is a water-soluble B vitamin (Vitamin B9) that must be obtained regularly through the diet. Small amounts are stored in the body, primarily in the liver, with the remainder present in blood and body tissues.
Folate occurs naturally in foods such as dark green leafy vegetables, legumes, wheatgerm, brewer’s yeast and liver.
The EU Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) for folate is 200µg for adults.
What does Folate do?

Folic acid is a synthetic form commonly used in fortified foods and some supplements.
