What Is Bentonite Clay?

Bentonite is a naturally occurring mineral clay formed over millions of years from weathered volcanic ash.

Its principal mineral component is montmorillonite, a layered clay mineral that gives bentonite its distinctive ability to absorb water and form a smooth paste.

Today, bentonite is used in many industries, including cosmetics, personal care, environmental applications and manufacturing.

This product is supplied as cosmetic-grade sodium bentonite for external cosmetic use.

What Is Sodium Bentonite?

There are several naturally occurring types of bentonite.

This product contains sodium bentonite, which is valued for its ability to absorb water and swell into a smooth, workable paste.

These physical properties make it a popular ingredient in: Facial masks, Body masks, Soap making, Bath products, Cosmetic formulations, Handmade skincare products.

Why Is Bentonite Used in Cosmetics?

When mixed with water, bentonite forms a smooth mineral paste that spreads easily across the skin.

Its naturally absorbent properties make it a popular ingredient in rinse-off cosmetic products such as facial masks and body treatments.

Because it contains no added fragrances or preservatives, it can also be incorporated into bespoke cosmetic recipes and formulations.
