Amylase breaks down carbohydrates and starches. Protease breaks down proteins into amino acids. Lactase breaks down lactose — the sugar found in dairy products. Lipase breaks down fats. Cellulase breaks down plant cell walls. Papain and bromelain are plant-derived proteases from papaya and pineapple respectively, which also support protein digestion.

The lactase enzyme in this formula contributes to improved lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose — this is an authorised EU health claim. This product is not a treatment for lactose intolerance, but the lactase it contains may help reduce discomfort associated with consuming dairy products.

Yes — in trace amounts. Maltodextrin is used in the production process of enzyme ingredients and is carried over at very low levels. It is not added as a filler or bulking agent. The formula contains no magnesium stearate, no added fillers, binders or flow agents. The presence of trace maltodextrin from enzyme production is disclosed transparently.

Health Leads Multi-Enzyme Complex provides a broad-spectrum blend of digestive enzymes in a convenient vegetable capsule.
The formula combines enzymes that act on different components of food, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, lactose and plant fibre. It includes DigeZyme®, a multi-enzyme complex providing Alpha-Amylase, Neutral Protease, Lactase, Lipase and Cellulase, alongside Papain and Bromelain.
Lactase improves lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose. As tolerance to lactose varies between individuals, those affected should seek advice on the role of lactase in their diet.
Each capsule provides:
• Alpha-Amylase — 44mg (1269 DU)
• Papain — 22mg (300,000 USP)
• Neutral Protease — 22mg (166 PC)
• Lactase — 18mg (91 ALU)
• Bromelain — 11mg (64 GDU)
• Cellulase — 9mg (11 CU)
• Lipase — 7mg (1.7 FIP)
Enzyme activity is shown using recognised activity units because enzyme function is determined by activity as well as ingredient weight.
Other ingredients: HPMC vegetable capsule shell and a very small amount of maltodextrin associated with the production and standardisation of the enzyme ingredients.
Maltodextrin is not included as an active ingredient and no nutritional benefit is claimed from its presence.
