What is Hydrochloric Acid?
Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) is a clear, colourless, highly pungent solution of hydrogen chloride (HCl) in water. It comprises 0.2% - 0.5% of gastric juice.
What does Hydrochloric Acid do?
The acidic environment in the stomach is vital to digestion and the subsequent absorption of nutrients. Taking Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) supplements can promote optimal acidity. HCL converts pepsinogen to pepsin which breaks down proteins into peptides. HCL maintains a pH in the stomach of approximately 2.0. It also dissolves food and kills microorganisms.
Hydrochloric Acid may kill some forms of detrimental bacteria in the stomach and small intestine. It is likely to be important in suppressing Campylobacter jejuni bacteria and may suppress or kill Helicobacter pylori bacteria as Hypochlorhydria (lack of Hydrochloric Acid) patients have increased levels of Helicobacter pylori.
Suggested Adult Use
Adult suggested use: To be cautious 5-10 drops depending upon the amount of food.
Maximum of 45 drops per day always with food – on it or in water/juice sipped while eating. Never on an empty stomach or with stomach conditions which may require a doctors assistance.
Do not use if you have a history of stomach ulcers or gastritis unless recommended by a qualified healthcare professional.
This product is suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
