Vitamin B5, also known as Pantothenic Acid, is a water-soluble B vitamin. It was first identified in 1933 and takes its name from the Greek word 'pantothen', meaning 'from everywhere' — a reference to its widespread presence in food. Because it is water-soluble, Pantothenic Acid is not stored in significant amounts in the body and must be obtained regularly through the diet.
Pantothenic Acid occurs naturally in almost all foods, with particularly rich sources including meat, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes, wholegrains and avocados.
Vitamin B5 contributes to:
