What is Milk Thistle?

Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a flowering plant native to the Mediterranean region. It is also known by a variety of common names including Marian thistle, Saint Mary's thistle and Mediterranean milk thistle.

The plant gets its name from the milky white sap released when the leaves are crushed.

What does Milk Thistle do?

Milk thistle seeds naturally contain a group of plant compounds known as silymarin. These compounds are widely studied plant flavonoids found in the herb.
